Hearts and Minds Matter
Hearts and Minds Matter: Creating Learning Environments Where All Students Belong delves deeply into the many positive attributes of inclusion, understanding that human potential is boundless, given the right learning environments. To inspire this potential, human beings need to feel they belong in a safe place; only then, can they survive, thrive and become resilient adults. People can and will make a difference in a world given the right circumstances.
Grounded in research on 1) human needs and wants, 2) emotional intelligence (EQ), 3) brain-compatible learning, and 4) resilience, this program provides educators with the foundation necessary to understand the power of belonging in safe, inclusive classrooms. In these powerful learning environments, students will maximize their academic and social-emotional skills with trust and confidence.
Hearts and Minds Matter: Creating Learning Environments Where All Students Belong gives educators a balance of theory and practice with a wide variety of engaging strategies, tactics and skills that can be immediately embedded into the classrooms of today. This program is an invaluable resource for all educational stakeholders including teachers, school administrators, classroom support personnel and parents.

Programs are offered on a regular basis. However, if you are interested in bringing a group of 15 or more people together, we will come to you. It is a powerful, engaging way to develop professionally as well as a fun way to build inclusion with your school community. All participants will be certified in Hearts and Minds Matter.

EDUCATION SUPPORT WORKERS (Educational Assistants, Early Childhood Educators, Child and Youth Workers)
The role of the education support worker is paramount in building inclusive classrooms that are safe learning spaces for all children. As such, Hearts and Minds Matter offers an engaging and practical one-day professional development program that will inspire these valued professionals to work collaboratively with teachers, students and parents to engage all children to thrive in classrooms.
The focus of this program is understanding human needs & wants, brain compatible teaching/learning/working, emotional intelligence, factors of resilience, effective communication and conflict resolution and mindfulness.

Intentional Teaching
Intentional Teaching is an inclusive, culturally relevant and responsive program that ensures teachers have the knowledge, tools and skills to teach content and build safe classrooms where all students know they belong. This program is licensed to individual educators, independent schools, school boards and districts for a period of one or two years so that every educators has access to this invaluable material.

Are you a teacher or administrator who is looking for support, encouragement and community to help you navigate the complex world of classrooms or schools? Are you looking for a small group of people with whom you can confide about your challenges and who will give you sage advice and coaching based on their years of experience? A mastermind group is a peer-to-peer mentoring concept used to help members solve their problems with input and advice from the other group members. The concept was coined in 1925 by author Napoleon Hill in his book The Law of Success.
As a MasterMind participant you will:
- Work with and learn from a small group of like-minded individuals; via Zoom, a tele-conference platform
- Dialogue in a safe and confidential space to share your success, challenges and goals;
- Work together to share resources and cultivate ideas as we support, challenge and encourage each other
MasterMIND for Teachers will be facilitated by Dr. Jackie Eldridge whose expertise spans forty years in education. Jackie has taught all grades from Kindergarten to Grade Eight as a classroom teacher and as a resource teacher. She is also a teacher educator at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
MasterMIND for Administrators will be facilitated by Denise McLafferty whose expertise spans 35 years in education. From classroom teacher to consultant to Vice-Principal and Principal, Denise has consistently focused on enhancing the culture and climate within her school communities.
Hearts and Minds Matter: Lighting the Way for Educational Change
This program is designed for anyone who would like to foster educational change through the power of storytelling. We all have education-related stories and we all know how inspiring or traumatizing educators can be. Hearts and Minds Matter: Lighting the Way for Educational Change aims to help people craft these stories and get them out into the world so that we can be agents of educational change.
In this program you will:
- Find your voice through story;
- Discover ways to tap into your authenticity and vulnerability while embracing your personal growth;
- Understand how powerfully your educational stories have shaped your life and the lives of others;
- Create inspirational stories;
- Deliver your message to the world;
- Have opportunities to compete in the internationally known Speaker Slam competitions.

We are launching a peer-reviewed journal that is written by educators for educators with articles and resources that are theory/practice-based. These articles will be immediately applicable to your classroom and/or school experience. Topics will include3:
